Awesome Holiday Duvet Covers

Nov 15th

Holiday duvet covers can be wonderful things especially if your quilt has seen better days. It is certainly cheaper to manufacture or buy a quilt cover to replace an entire quilt. However, keeping the quilt centered inside the quilt cover can be a bit more complicated. Here are some tips on how to make a quilt cover stay in place. Light your holiday duvet covers inside out. Then cut four lengths of 1 1/2 inches of elastic and fold them in half to form loops. Pin the elastic ties to each of the four corners of the holiday duvet covers.

Sew the loops in place of your hand or with a sewing machine. Since the elastic ties are sewn inside the blanket above, the color does not matter. And then cut four lengths of 4 to 6 inches from the hem tape. Like the thread, this can be any color you choose, since it will not be seen. Fold the hem tape in half, and then fasten the center of the hem tape to each corner of the quilt. Sew the hem tape in place either by hand or with a sewing machine.

Line the holiday duvet covers and the quilt so that the two are oriented in the same direction. For example, extra large quilts are subtly rectangular. You want to make sure that the long sides match the quilt and the quilt cover in order to make the quilt cover stay in place. Pass the hem strip of the quilt through the elastic ties of the quilt cover. Tie the security tapes in place. A bow would probably be the best knot to use. You want to be able to easily remove the quilt cover when it’s time to wash it. Light the right side cover comforter outward and close the cover. Thanks to the hem tied ribbons on the corners of the quilt, your quilt cover will stay in place.
